CLC Licensing Extends Partnership with Marshall University
December 23, 2014
CLC Licensing, the licensing affiliate of IMG College, today announced a five-year extension of its partnership with Marshall University to continue managing the school’s highly successful trademark licensing program.
Marshall’s licensing program has grown significantly since partnering with Collegiate Licensing Company, achieving annual royalty gains in ten consecutive years (180% increase). Since the school’s relationship with CLC Licensing began in 1987, licensing royalties have grown more than 325%.
Marshall continues to gain momentum licensing its brand, as 2013-14 represented the second-largest royalty collection in the history of the school’s licensing program.
“Marshall University is pleased to extend its partnership with CLC,” said Ginny Painter, Senior Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Marshall. “We have enjoyed a long, collaborative relationship with CLC and look forward to continuing to receive excellent service as we work together to grow Marshall’s brand.”
“We are honored to extend our partnership with Marshall and to continue to expand the university’s licensing program,” said Cory Moss, SVP and Managing Director, CLC. “Everyone at CLC is very proud to have helped the university generate annual royalty increases each of the past 10 years. The whole CLC team is eager to continue to promote and build the Thundering Herd’s licensing program.”
Through the partnership, Marshall maintains access to the leading brand protection, brand management, and brand development services that CLC Licensing currently provides to its nearly 200 collegiate partners in the $4.6 billion collegiate licensed segment of the retail market. The partnership with Collegiate Licensing Company also allows the university to leverage best-in-class licensees, tap into key retailers, access exclusive retail intelligence, and participate in a range of national retail marketing programs.
CLC Licensing, the leading collegiate licensing agency in the U.S., has signed or extended its licensing agreements with more than 50 properties this year. Collegiate Licensing Company currently represents nearly 200 collegiate properties, including 25 bowl games and the College Football Playoff.
