CLC Licensing Signs 10-Year Extension with Stephen F. Austin State University
June 18, 2014
CLC Licensing, the licensing affiliate of IMG College, announced today that it has signed a 10-year extension of its partnership agreement with Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) to continue managing its trademark licensing program. The partnership, which began in 1999, will run through 2024.
The renewal comes on the heels of a record-setting year for the SFA licensing program. In 2012-13, total royalties generated for the University reached an all-time high, a total that is on pace to be surpassed in 2013-14, marking seven straight years of growth for the program. Key to the program’s recent success has been CLC Licensing’s ability to increase SFA’s retail distribution and product selection by securing the University’s presence at key retailers like Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens.
“The growth in our licensing program can be directly attributed to the solid partnership that exists between Stephen F. Austin and CLC,” said John Branch, Stephen F. Austin’s Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. “We value the industry expertise and relationships CLC brings to the table, and we look forward to continuing to leverage those assets as we further grow the Stephen F. Austin brand.”
The partnership will give SFA continued access to CLC Licensing’s leading brand protection, brand management, and brand development services through a comprehensive trademark licensing program customized by CLC Licensing. In addition, SFA will benefit from CLC Licensing’s proven licensing services, which allow it to contract with best-in-class licensees that will advance its goals and marketplace position.
“We appreciate the opportunity to continue our partnership with Stephen F. Austin,” said Cory Moss, Senior VP and Managing Director of CLC. “We remain dedicated to fully leveraging all of our resources to maximize the University’s licensing program and promote the SFA brand in the marketplace.”
SFA is one of nine universities in the state of Texas to be represented by CLC Licensing. Other in-state schools partnering with CLC Licensing include University of North Texas, Rice University, Texas A&M University, The University of Texas at Austin, Texas Christian University, University of Texas-El Paso, Texas State University, and Texas Tech University.
CLC Licensing, the oldest and largest collegiate licensing agency in the United States, currently represents nearly 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, and athletic conferences in the $4.6 billion retail market for collegiate products.
