Debut of Inaugural Bobblehead Series Honoring First Historically Black Colleges and Universities

February 17, 2023

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has introduced the HBCU Bobblehead Series, featuring officially licensed bobbleheads representing 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). These bobbleheads celebrate Black History Month and include schools like Alabama A&M University Bulldogs, Florida A&M University Rattlers, and more. Each bobblehead proudly displays the school's colors and logo on a base with the school's nickname. These unique collectibles are individually numbered up to 2,023 and are exclusively available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum's online store.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) originated in the 19th century to provide quality higher education to Black Americans, addressing historical issues of segregation and racism in traditional institutions. There are over 100 accredited HBCUs in the southern United States today, and they welcome students of all racial backgrounds. Notable HBCU alumni include civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. The bobbleheads for some schools will be available in April, while others are set to ship in June.
