A collegiate licensed product is any item that bears the name of a college or university and is also officially approved by the college or university to be for sale.

How does an item become a collegiate licensed product and what does officially approved mean?

An item becomes a collegiate licensed product through a number of steps. First, the company that manufactures the product has to be an approved vendor of the college or university. Second, the manufacture has to submit the product to the college or university for approval. Third, once the product is approved by the college or university for production and sale to the general public, the product must also have an Offically Licensing Collegiate Product tag or sticker affixed to it.

Once all of these steps are met the product becomes a collegiate licensed product. Lastly, officially approved, means the college of university has formally approved for the item to be produced and sold.
