CLC Licensing Extends Partnership with Drexel University
May 1, 2014
CLC Licensing, the licensing affiliate of IMG College, announced today that it has extended its partnership agreement with Drexel University to continue managing its trademark licensing program.
Drexel and CLC Licensing, who have partnered together since 1996, have signed a five-year agreement that will run through 2019. The partnership will give Drexel continued access to CLC Licensing’s leading brand protection, brand management and brand development services through a comprehensive trademark licensing program customized by CLC Licensing. In addition, Drexel will continue to benefit from CLC Licensing’s proven licensing services, which allow it to contract with best-in-class licensees that will advance its goals and marketplace position.
“We have been very pleased with the growth and expansion of our licensing program throughout our partnership with CLC,” said Jill Axel, Drexel’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. “We value CLC’s knowledge, resources and relationships in the collegiate licensing industry and we look forward to continuing to capitalize on those as we further grow the Drexel brand.”
The Drexel licensing program is coming off a record-setting fiscal year that saw total royalties generated reach an all-time record high, a peak that comes on the heels of four straight years of growth for the program. In addition, CLC Licensing has been able to increase retail distribution and product selection of Drexel merchandise by securing a presence for the University in key retailers like Lids, Finish Line and Rally House.
“We value the long-term partnership we have developed with Drexel University over the last 18 years,” said Cory Moss, Senior VP and Managing Director of CLC. “We appreciate the opportunity to continue to build on our recent successes as we seek out and develop new growth opportunities for the Drexel brand.”
Drexel is one of three institutions in the Colonial Athletic Association that are represented by CLC Licensing. Other CLC Licensing partners in the CAA include the University of Delaware and James Madison University.
CLC Licensing, the oldest and largest collegiate licensing agency in the United States, currently represents over 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, and athletic conferences in the $4.6 billion retail market for collegiate products.
