The experience, exclusively available to Collegiate Licensing Company partners as the company’s continued efforts to provide new education initiatives for its universities, gives future fashion executives a unique behind the scenes glimpse of the industry, including passage into select runway shows, panel talks, and networking opportunities with existing leaders.
Runway Shows were attended, including one with 2015 Council of Fashion Designers of America / Vogue Fashion Fund winner SIMKHAI Design Studio. In addition, students attended the Global Fashion Collective show for up and coming designers, including Tulip ‘n Room, Chemi Akutami, Memory Lane Park, and Universidad Iberoamericana. An NYFW backstage experience was also had, this included exclusive access to the TRESemmé Style Studios. The students also attended and participated in a Q&A with reps from WME Fashion, this resulted in valuable insights into opportunities and careers in fashion.
“Our longstanding collaboration with CLC and their participating university partners aligns with our mission to deliver opportunities for future leaders in the industry and support the development of new perspectives in the ever-evolving fashion business,” said Kim Fasting Berg, EVP, Marketing at WME Fashion. “As we continue to evolve our programming and experiences, we are proud to help provide this generation of college students the chance to interact and learn from some of the best designers and experts in the world of fashion at NYFW.”
Aside from the above experiences, the students had a half day with Amazon, interacting with business executives across the luxury, licensed sports, fashion, and creators division. The students sought out advice on careers and exchange on topics from the impact of AI on fashion to changes of “watch & shop” as well as other retail, notably the combining of fashion and sports.
To top it off, the students attended a flagship store for Champion, an athletics fashion brand and collegiate licensee Champion, here they partnered with the team at the store to create their own Champion piece of clothing.
“I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand how transformative our U of NYFW program can be to the lives and dreams of the student participants, and we are honored to deliver this once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity to these talented future leaders in fashion,” said Cory Moss, CEO of CLC. “This innovative experience adds tremendous value to the participating universities beyond our traditional role as their brand licensing partner.”
